Mand Small Hydro Power Project

Mand Small Hydro Power Project

Project Description

The 8 MW Mand Small Hydro Power Project is a run-of-the-river scheme located on the Mand River at Damas Village in Dharmajaygarh Taluk, Raigarh District, Chhattisgarh. The Mand River, a tributary of the Mahanadi River, originates in the Ambikapur district and flows through hilly terrain before joining the Mahanadi. The project is designed to harness the river’s flow without creating significant water storage, meaning there is no inundation or displacement involved. Water is diverted through a simple weir, passed through turbines to generate electricity, and then returned to the river.
